Ian has been involved in building design since he started training as a draughtsman in 1967. He has operated in Warwick as IG & MA Darnell since 1987, and in 2005 won a National Building Design Award -In the Special Projects Category.

He also has 38 years of experience working with the Department of Main Roads in road design, land use and forward planning.

Ian was awarded an Australia Day medal in 2005 for his work for the Department of Main Roads and services to community groups.

He has studied building surveying in order to improve his skills and knowledge of the complex legislation. His approach is based on finding efficient solutions to problems.
